On June 18, 2019, The City Council for the City of Guyton voted to increase the sewer rate. The new rates can be found HERE.

Notice is given that an election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 in Room 503 (Leisure Services Community Room) at the Guyton Public Safety Complex located at 505 Magnolia Street in Guyton, Georgia.  Those positions that are up for election are:


Michael A. Garvin, Sr.

Russell Deen

Post 1: Councilman Collins current seat

Tamela Mydell

T. Marshall Reiser

Post 2: Councilman Goldwire current seat

Michael Gerwig

Andy Harville

Sam Hartis

Hursula Pelote

Those elected will serve terms starting at the City Council Meeting for January 2020 and said terms to expire December 31, 2023. 

Early voting will begin on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 8:00 am and close on Friday, November 1, 2019.  Early voting will take place at Guyton City Hall located at 310 Central Boulevard, Guyton, Georgia. 

Any person who is presently registered as a voter in the City of Guyton but who now resides outside the City limits is not eligible to vote in said election.  All duly qualified electors of the City of Guyton are urged to participate.  Those qualified to vote at said election shall be determined in all respects in accordance and in conformity with the laws of the State of Georgia.  Information on voter registration may be obtained through the Effingham County Board of Elections & Registration at 912.754.8030.

Important Information -
Trash/Recycle Carts

It has been brought to our attention by Waste Management that many recycle carts also have trash being put in them.
Effective July 31, 2015 Waste Management will NOT empty the recycle carts that have trash in them. Please remove your trash from the recycle carts and put it in the proper receptacle (trash cart).
